Lost money to a cyber fraud? Call 1930 now and file at cybercrime.gov.in. The first hour matters.

What to do, step by step →
Cyber Crime Help Desk An initiative from Kramate for Society

Individuals

There is no such thing as a digital arrest. Hang up, then call us.

No police force, CBI, ED or court in India arrests anyone over a video call or asks for money to "verify" an account. If the money has already gone, the next few hours decide what can be frozen, and the callers will try again with a "release" or "refund" story. We handle both.

  • Immediate guidance while the caller is still pressuring you or a family member
  • 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in complaint naming every receiving account
  • Bank dispute and RBI Ombudsman route for the transfers you were made to do
  • Blocking and reporting of the numbers, with a plan for the follow-up calls

Free first call. If the call is still going on, phone us before you transfer anything. Fixed fee for case work, agreed in writing first.

What happens when you contact us

  1. Call us, even mid-scam
  2. Written action plan
  3. Filings and bank follow-up
  4. Closure and family brief

Signs this is what happened to you

  • A call or video call from someone in uniform or in an "office" saying a parcel, SIM or account in your name is linked to a crime
  • You were told not to disconnect, not to tell family, and to stay on camera
  • You were asked to move your savings to a "safe", "RBI" or "verification" account and promised a refund after checks
  • Documents with CBI, ED, Supreme Court or TRAI letterheads were sent on WhatsApp
  • A parent or older relative has gone quiet, is withdrawing fixed deposits or asking about large transfers
  • After the loss, a "legal officer" or "recovery team" has called asking for a fee to return the money

What is included

Emergency guidance

If the call is live, we tell you exactly what to say, how to end it and what to screenshot before you do. If a relative is on the call, we help you break the contact without a confrontation that makes them hide it.

Complaint filing and correction

The 1930 call and the cybercrime.gov.in complaint, with every account number, UPI ID, transaction reference and phone number listed so the freeze request reaches each bank in the chain.

Bank dispute letters

A written dispute to each bank involved, citing the RBI limited-liability circular and the facts of coercion, with a request for the transaction trail and the status of any lien.

Number and account reporting

Chakshu (Sanchar Saathi) reports for the calling numbers, WhatsApp reports for the accounts used, and a note of what each report does and does not achieve.

Follow-up scam shield

A short written brief for the family on the second wave: fake "release orders", "refund processing fees" and "court bail" demands. Nobody legitimate will ask for money to return money.

Police escalation

If the local cyber cell does not register an FIR, we draft the complaint under BNS cheating and impersonation sections and the escalation to the Commissioner or Superintendent.

How we work

  1. Call us, even mid-scam

Tell us what has happened so far. If the caller is still on the line we give you the three sentences that end it. If money has moved, we start the 1930 complaint immediately.

  2. Written action plan

Within one working day you get a plain list of filings, who signs what, and what each step can realistically do. Nothing is promised that cannot be delivered.

  3. Filings and bank follow-up

We prepare each complaint and dispute, submit with your authorisation where possible, and chase acknowledgements and lien confirmations.

  4. Closure and family brief

A written summary of what was filed, what was frozen and what remains open, plus a one-page sheet for the household on how to handle any further calls.

What you walk away with

  • Complaints filed on the official channels with reference numbers for every account named
  • A bank dispute on record that puts the coercion facts in writing
  • A family that knows the call was a crime, not a case, and how to refuse the next one
  • A clear picture of what has been frozen and what the realistic next steps are

What we do not do

We would rather lose an enquiry than mislead you.

  • We cannot promise that any amount will be frozen or returned
  • We do not contact the scammers, negotiate with them or attempt to "trace" them ourselves
  • We do not charge a percentage of recovered money

Frequently asked questions

My father is on the call right now and will not hang up. What do I do?

Do not argue with him on camera; the callers coach victims to resist family. Sit beside him, take the phone and end the call yourself, then call 1930 and us. If he has already transferred money, write down every account number and reference before anything else. Reassure him that the "case" does not exist and that the police will not come.

Can the police really not arrest someone on video?

No. Arrest under BNSS is physical, with a written memo and a person present. No investigating agency verifies funds by having you transfer them, and no court takes "bail" over UPI. The Supreme Court and the Ministry of Home Affairs have both said publicly that digital arrest is a fraud, not a procedure.

The money went to several accounts over three days. Is anything recoverable?

Possibly in part, if the receiving banks acted on the 1930 freeze request before the money was withdrawn. We cannot know in advance. What we can do is make sure every account in the chain is named in the complaint and that each bank gives you a written status, which also matters for the Ombudsman route.

They have my Aadhaar, PAN and bank details from the call. What else should I worry about?

Loans and SIMs in your name, and a second scam using the same details. We check TAFCOP for SIMs, pull a credit report for new enquiries, lock Aadhaar biometrics and set up alerts. This is part of the plan, not an extra.

Someone has now called offering to recover the money for a fee. Is it genuine?

Almost certainly not. The same groups run a "recovery" line using the victim list. Official recovery goes through the police and the court, and nobody will ask you to pay a fee or share an OTP for it. Send us the number; we add it to the complaint.

Is the call still going on?

Phone us now. Otherwise send the dates, the amounts, the accounts the money went to and the numbers that called. We reply the same working day; sooner if it happened today.

No charge for the first conversation.
