This policy explains what Cyber Crime Help Desk collects when you use this website and what we do with it. It is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011.
What we collect
- Enquiry forms. Name, phone, email, city, organisation and the message you write. We collect these only when you submit a form and tick the consent box.
- Server logs. IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps, kept for security and for up to 180 days as required by CERT-In directions of April 2022.
- First-party page counts. We count page views per article without cookies and without storing who you are.
- Analytics. If enabled, Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation. You can block it with any content blocker; the site works the same.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, to deliver a service or training you ask for, to keep the site secure, and to understand which guides people find useful. We do not sell personal data and do not run advertising.
Sensitive details in enquiries
People often describe a fraud, a blackmail attempt or harassment in the form. Those messages are stored in our case system, visible only to staff who need them, and deleted on request. Do not send passwords, OTPs, card numbers or intimate images through the form. We will never ask for them.
Sharing
We share personal data only with the service providers who host this website and email, under contract, or when the law requires it. If you ask us to help you file a complaint, we share only what you authorise, with the body you name.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask for corrections, withdraw consent or ask for deletion by writing to help@example.com. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
Cookies
The site sets a session cookie needed for forms to work (CSRF protection). No tracking cookies are set unless analytics is enabled, and that is disclosed above.
Children
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. A parent or guardian should submit enquiries about a child.
