Editorial & sources policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
This page describes how content on Cyber Crime Help Desk is researched, written, reviewed and corrected. We publish it because readers deserve to know how we know what we claim.
Sources
- Statistics come from primary documents only: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha replies, Press Information Bureau releases, NCRB's Crime in India reports, RBI and SEBI annual reports and circulars, CERT-In advisories, court orders, and published reports from Interpol, Europol, FBI IC3, UNODC and ITU.
- Every article lists its sources in a box at the end, linking to the official page rather than to news coverage of it.
- Where two official sources disagree, we present both and explain the difference (for example, complaints counted on NCRP versus FIRs counted by NCRB).
- We never invent, round up or “estimate” a figure to make a point.
Writing and review
Each article has a named author. Articles that explain law, procedure or technical response are reviewed by a second person with the relevant background before publishing. Both names appear on the article. We use software to check structure, links and readability, and people to check facts.
Updates
Every page shows the date it was last updated. Helpline and portal pages are re-verified against the official site at least every six months; the verification date is printed on the page. Statistics pages are updated when a new official release appears.
Corrections
If we got something wrong, write to help@example.com. Material corrections are made promptly and noted at the end of the article.
Independence
We do not accept payment for coverage. Service pages are clearly separated from editorial pages. Articles may link to our services where relevant; those links are labelled.
